What is the most obnoxious, ostentatious, ridiculously pompous violin solo that you know?
If you want something really over-played, cliche, obnoxious and pompous --- I'd vote for Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee" and of course play it as frantically and over-tempo as you possibly can. Make sure the bow hair is flying by the end of the piece. Make lots of exaggerated body movements and dramatic facial expressions while playing. You might even want to play part of it between your legs or behind your back. This is one of those pieces of music that entertains TV potatoes watching "America's Got Talent" and similar... perfect for a quasi "classical favorites" "seen on TV" infomercial kind of collection. Good luck !
