Careers in Music: Too late for me?

You'll find there is so much more to being a professional pianist that playing the same recital over and over again in front of huge audiences around the world like kempf or lang lang. Uni will be great for you. You may find that you want to teach, become an examiner, exam accompanist, play in pits, do recital in smaller venues like town halls, be a wedding pianist, bar pianist, arranger, or repetitur. Most pianist will teach to some degree to sustain a regular income. You could still become a solos in your own right. The trick is to simply grab opportunities, meet new people and contacts and work hard. The right outcome will become apparent whilst studying at uni.
